The time for being ignored is over.
We are citizens, renters and owners alike, who pay the taxes that keep our schools, our City and our State running. And we want our governments to listen to us. We want reasonable tax rates and reasonable plans to use those taxes, not expensive projects that benefit only a few and threaten to throw many of us into poverty. We want those we elect — and the process of government — to be more transparent than what we’ve experienced.
Many of us have approached government individually and been ignored. We attend committee meetings that may allow us to make comments, and our comments are ignored. We’ve signed petitions and passed ballot questions and we’ve still been ignored.
We therefore formed the Taxpayers Guild. Together we will raise an awareness among our fellow taxpayers, share information and act together with voices so loud that those we elect cannot ignore them.
